Psytrance is known for hypnotic rhythms and wide, atmospheric soundscapes, and Spectra Sonics is one of the artists who work right at the centre of that sound. He comes from Japan's lively music scene, and his music combines classic psytrance elements with modern synthesis. His sets are built like stories, with a clear arc from start to finish.

From Tokyo's underground

Spectra Sonics started out at underground psytrance parties in Tokyo. That is where he first felt what this music can do to a dance floor. The energy of the crowd and the possibilities of electronic sound made him want to create his own style of psytrance.

On stages around the world

His music has long since reached audiences outside Japan, from the beaches of Goa to the desert of Burning Man, and he plays regularly at psytrance festivals around the world.

Studio and scene

Experimenting is central to how he works. He keeps trying out new sounds and technologies, and in his studio traditional instruments meet modern digital synthesis. He also supports many emerging artists in the scene and shares his knowledge and experience with young DJs and producers.

His tracks are meant to be felt as much as heard. For Spectra Sonics, music is more than entertainment: it is a way to connect people, on the dance floor and beyond.
