Own Spirit Festival: psytrance open air by a lake in Aragon

I've been to Own Spirit myself, and what I like about it is the scale. The organizers give a figure of around 4,000 people — next to Ozora that's a small gathering, and for me that's the point. It has run every September since 2015, six days on the shore of a reservoir in Aragon. One detail I respect: the organizers publish a transparency page saying the festival is independent, has no external funding and pays roughly 40% of its revenue in Spanish taxes. Not many festivals open their books like that.

The festival sits on the shore of the Embalse de Santa Ana, a reservoir near the village of Baldellou in the province of Huesca, Aragon. The nearest larger city is Lleida. It's a rural, open-air site by the water, and the 2027 dates fall at the very start of September, the tail end of the Spanish summer. For me, a lake next to the dance floor is worth more than any stage design. Just don't expect city comforts: this is countryside, and you plan accordingly.

The sound is psytrance in the broad sense: full-on and progressive, with goa and forest in the mix. One listing also mentions darker sounds, but I haven't seen that confirmed against a line-up, so check the running order rather than assume. The number of stages isn't confirmed by any source I trust, so I won't guess. Six days give the music room to breathe, and it does the work if you let it. Line-ups change every year and appear on the official website and Instagram.

Own Spirit is more than dance floors. Besides the stages there's a healing area, a visionary art gallery, yoga, meditation, workshops, art installations and a family zone with a kids' area. That's why it gets labeled a boutique, eco-conscious festival, and for once the label matches the program. I'd say it suits people who like to switch between the floor and something quieter during the day. Families are welcome; I found no age policy, so ask the organizers if you're bringing kids.

If you don't drive, the easiest option is the official shuttle bus from Barcelona Airport (T2): about three hours on the road, €50 per leg. Otherwise a car is recommended, and campervans are an option. Barcelona is the only airport named on the official shuttle page; anything else you'll have to compare yourself. Honestly, three hours on a bus after a flight is no drama — you arrive, you set up camp, you're there.

Tickets for 2027 are sold through the official website. I couldn't find verified prices, so check the current price there. Camping is included, and if you don't want to bring a tent you can rent one: the Own TipiCamp bell tents for 2, 4 or 6 people come with mattresses, bedding and a solar lantern. Glamping is offered too. Thanks to the transparency page you at least know where your money goes, which I can't say about many festivals.
