Earth Frequency Festival: electronic music festival in Queensland
Queensland's long-running electronic festival, with psytrance as a core part of the programme, moves to the Woodfordia parklands in Woodford for its 21st edition on 23–26 October 2026.
Earth Frequency grew out of a small landcare party more than twenty years ago and now bills itself as Queensland's longest-running electronic music festival. I like that origin — it fits a festival that is more than a rave: workshops, art, a market, a kids area and an eco focus. Psytrance is a core part of the programme, but it shares the site with techno and house. It runs four days, and one aggregator puts attendance around 5,000; I'd treat that as a rough guide. Either way, this is boutique scale, nothing like a Boom-sized crowd.
Location
For 2026 it moves to the Woodfordia parklands in Woodford, home of the Woodford Folk Festival, about an hour north of Brisbane. That's a big change for a festival that has moved around — the 2024 edition was at Willowbank Raceway — and it also shifts from its old early-May slot to late October, which is spring in Queensland. Whether October is permanent isn't confirmed. Personally, I'd expect a site built for festivals to suit it better than a raceway, but that's my guess, not a promise.

Music
Listings tag progressive psytrance, techno and house; I haven't found a stage-by-stage breakdown, so take the genre picture as approximate. A useful hint: in 2024, the psytrance label Zenon Records was among the crews hosting stages and takeovers. To me that says the psytrance side is taken seriously, not a token corner — the kind of floor where you can let the music carry you through the night. Check the official site for the 2026 line-up.
Community
This is an all-ages festival: under-18s are admitted with a parent or guardian, and there's a kids area. The crowd is mainly local campers and families. If you want a strictly adult, all-night psytrance crowd, that's worth knowing before you book; if you're a parent who misses festivals, it's one of the more obvious options. Workshops, art installations and a market fill the days, and the eco focus fits those landcare roots.
Travel
Woodford is about an hour north of Brisbane, and Brisbane Airport (BNE) is the nearest major airport. The festival offers a shuttle; driving is the other practical option. Camping is included, and there's glamping if you want more comfort. Arrival counts as easy by festival standards. My tip: with a new venue this year, read the official travel info carefully rather than relying on directions from previous editions.
Tickets
Tickets for the 2026 edition are sold through Humanitix; the link is on the official site. I don't have verified prices, so I won't quote any. With a new venue and a new month, I'd read the ticket page carefully for what's included — camping, glamping and the shuttle — before you pay.
